About Us
A 501c3 NJ Non Profit
All Volunteer Animal Rescue Organization
The Last Resort Rescue is network of amazing volunteers, committed to saving the lives of homeless, neglected, abandoned, and abused animals. Many of the animals we take in are those needing intense medical or rehabilitative care.
We truly are their Last Resort!
We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome orphaned, injured, abandoned and abused animals in need. Over the last 2 decades we have rescued, rehabilitated and permenantly rehomed over 9000 Dogs, Cats, Horses, and exotic pets into screened, compatible, forever homes through our Foster and Adoption Programs. Animals are cared for in our network of experienced foster homes. Never in a shelter or kennel setting. This helps them to decompress and recover while we evaluate their individual needs to ensure we place them in the most compaitble forever homes. We carefully match each approved adoptive family with the most compatible new companion to ensure a "happily ever after" for all invloved.
We also rescue, rehabilitate and provide refuge for thousands of orphaned or injured wildlife, each year, at our 86 acre wildlife rehabilitation facility in West Milford NJ. We operate a 24 hr wildlife hotline for the public for wildlife in distress. Many times, callers only require an education on how to best help. Wild animals should only be brought into human care if absolutely a Last Resort! Here, at the facility, they receive emergency medical care, round the clock nursing care, rehabilitation, enrichment and all the skills they need to be successfully released or reintroduced back to the wild.
We are committed to being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. We take every opportunity to educate the public about our native wildlife, so they may better understand , appreciate and respect them. Through education, we can learn to peacefully coexist with all our wild neighbors.

Our team of rescuers, vet techs, wildlife rehabilitators, trainers, foster homes and volunteers work tirelessly and diligently every day to bring these animals to safety and meet all their needs.
We receive ZERO FUNDING from the state, grants or outside sources and we rely solely on donations and volunteer / public support to continue saving lives. We are a small but determined army of animal lovers. They need our help!!! And we need yours! We cannot do it alone!
Here are ways YOU CAN HELP!
